We were hoping that she'd written this herself, but since she didn't, it is with great sadness that we announce that Kay Pryde Wiecki passed away at her home in Thermopolis on February 21, 2026. She was 81.
Kay Frances Pryde was born May 12,1944 to George Francis Pryde and Wilma Kysar Pryde in Lovell, Wyoming. She was their only child. They loved her dearly and spoiled her rotten. The family lived in Lance Creek, Wyoming during Kay's school years and she graduated from Lusk High School in 1962.
She traveled all over the world while working for Pan American Airlines in the 1960s. Traveling would always be one of her favorite things to do throughout her life. She accomplished her goal of visiting all 50 states, but it was Yellowstone National Park that was her favorite place of all, where she would visit at every chance.
Kay married Robert Charles Wiecki in 1970 in Glendale, California. As they started their family, she worked as a regional manager for Avon Cosmetics. They moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming in 1981 and were married until Bob's death in 2004.
In Thermopolis, Kay had several jobs, including working at the local grocery store and hospital. She was proud to own her own business, Rocky Mountain Mud ceramics for several years.
Kay put a lot of her heart into her favorite hobby, which was making and collecting nativity scenes. She had collected hundreds of her treasured nativity sets and enjoyed sharing them with the community. She always said to give one away to every person who came to her funeral. We'll see.
Kay was fortunate to find love again when she met Randy Wahler. They were together for 12 years and married in 2021. They had a very special relationship and shared great times. They were inseparable until Randy's death in 2024.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, and her two husbands, Robert Wiecki and Randy Wahler. She is survived by her son Steve Wiecki and his wife Gina of Worland, Wyoming, and her daughter Lori and her husband Paige Kester of Southlake, Texas. Her grandchildren are Jack, Sydney, and Maggie Kester and Noah, Hailee, and Emma Hunt. Her little girl dog, Sophie, will miss her most of all.
Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will follow at a later date.
