Loren Bowen Alberts, 64, passed away on Feb 17, 2026, at his home in Basin, Wyoming, surrounded by his loving family.
Loren was born in Portland, Oregon on March 15, 1961. He graduated from David Douglas High School in 1979 and went on to serve an LDS mission in the Guam Micronesia area. Upon returning from his mission, Loren shunned the big city for Encampment, Wyoming, where he worked for the Ron Platt family.
During high school, Loren worked at Caster Carpet Villa in Portland, where he learned the flooring trade, a skill that would serve him well throughout his life. While on a job in White Fish, MT, he met Glenda Harshbarger. They soon married on August 8, 1987. Together they raised three children. Loren and Glenda lived in Pinedale and Thermopolis before buying property and building their home in Basin. He moved his business there as well and served much of the surrounding region for more than thirty years.
Loren had a passion for life and lived it to its fullest. He was the kind of person who could turn any moment into fun and laughter, always ready with a story or a joke to share and made friends easily. He was very involved in his community and served as a 4H leader, volunteer, and later president of Body and Spirit Therapeutic Riding Program and hosted many home-schooling events and gatherings on his property. For seven years, he, alongside his wife Glenda and friends Jeff and Barb McManus, organized the Pioneer Expo in Basin.
Loren had a love for knowledge. He was a true patriot and very passionate about the Constitution and the rights of the people. He especially enjoyed history and traveling and turned those loves into a podcast. He traveled much of the U.S. visiting peculiar museums, interviewing staff, and promote their attractions. He left this legacy, the 'Where Am I To Go' podcast, for all to enjoy.
Loren had many hobbies and was a jack of all trades. His interests were as diverse as his talents. He enjoyed scuba diving, pottery, boating, skiing, ice fishing, hunting, and cheese making just to name a few. Anyone who knew Loren knew he usually had some sort of vehicle project constantly underway. He was always ready for a new adventure and was known for saying, "The world is full of wonder, go and explore, and have a wonder-filled day."
Loren's wife, Glenda, passed away in 2015. It took him a few years to find love again, but he eventually found happiness with Linda Goller. They were able to spend these last seven years together traveling, making podcasts, and building a campground in Basin for their retirement.
Loren is survived by his three children: Desirae Barkan of Gilbert, Arizona, Chanda Darby of Basin, Wyoming, and Kolter Alberts of Basin, Wyoming. He is also survived by his significant other Linda Goller, his sisters Rhonda Westmann and Marcie Murphy, his brothers Brad Alberts and Max Alberts, eight cousins, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Glenda Alberts, his mother Birdie Hyden Alberts, father Ronnie Sumblin, his adopted father John "Jack" Kairala and his stepfather Keith Alberts.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Recreation District 4 Center, 911 B Street, Basin, Wyoming.
